Who I am.
Clockworks Design is the work of Tyler Dunsmore (me), a graphic designer currently living in Athens, Tennessee. The name embodies an approach to graphic design using my personal design philosophy, a collection of concepts and design practices developed as a result of my education and experience. With the use of my design philosophy I customize the creative process using specific elements that fit each of my client’s needs. This allows me to better provide them with the creative resources needed to help and improve their company image, product, or service.
The process.
Clockworks Design operates using an expanded model of a 4-tier process:
Summary.
My work involves a myriad of design elements, various methods, and a personal style that come together to make a unique and personalized design experience. This experience comes from knowing the right tools to pick as well as when and how to use them. It is about having the right balance and mood, saying exactly what needs to be said–not too much or too little. It is also about being aware of how roles work as designer–what roles to play as a communicator, as a manager of time and resources both human and technological.
My job as a designer is to make the pieces of a design fit together like the cogs in a clock, each working in unison, each fulfilling its own role in the grand scheme. Though these methods and ideas are at the core of how I work, I am always growing and maturing as a designer and continually refining my design principles and philosophy. I know I do not have all the answers when it comes to design—but at least now I know the right questions to ask.■
